When you authorize an application to access your account, we require a recent identity verification to protect your security.

This happens when:

- **Your session is older than the required threshold** — Some time has passed since you last logged in or verified your identity
- **The application requires fresh authentication** — The application explicitly requested that we verify your identity before granting access
- **You used 'Login with ...'** — Connecting applications always requires a recent verification

This extra step prevents unauthorized connections if someone else is using your browser or if your session was left open.
